Katherine M. Cunningham

Katherine Cunningham focuses her practice on advising high-net-worth individuals and families on estate planning and estate administration. She advises clients throughout the planning process, including the preparation of wills, revocable trusts, gift trusts, insurance trusts, and powers of attorney. Katherine works with clients, their families, and their advisors to develop a plan to transfer financial assets and manage their legacy.

Katherine has substantial experience assisting families through the probate process and has handled large and complicated estates with closely held business interests and international assets. She has supervised the preparation of gift and estate tax returns. She regularly works with family members, accountants, and investment advisors to transfer assets in an organized and thoughtful manner after death.

Her clients appreciate the personal attention they receive from Katherine. She connects her client’s hopes and fears for their beneficiaries with their objectives for their financial legacies. Hugs are Katherine’s favorite part of the practice.

In addition to being a member of the Collier County Women’s Bar Association and the Florida Association for Women Lawyers, Katherine founded the Southwest Florida group of Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense in America, and currently serves as the Legislative Lead.

Before joining Harrison LLP in 2017, Katherine founded a trust & estates practice with a small firm, Sonnenberg & Cunningham, Ltd., in Naples, Florida. Previously, she was a partner in the Wealth Management Group of Mayer Brown LLP and started her practice as an associate at Kirkland & Ellis LLP in Chicago, Illinois. She was recognized as a Rising Star by Illinois Super Lawyers in 2011.
