Timothy G. Carroll has extensive experience in all phases of estate planning, probate and trust administration, charitable giving techniques, and estate and gift tax audit practice. He represents individuals, families, foundations, fiduciaries and corporate executives.
Tim regularly represents estates before the Internal Revenue Service. He has served as a guardian ad litem in guardianship and probate matters.
Clients have often complimented Tim on his ability to simplify difficult tax and trust concepts to help guide their estate planning decisions.
Tim is a Fellow with the American College of Trust and Estate Counsel (ACTEC) and a member of the Chicago Estate Planning Council.
Prior to joining Harrison LLP, Tim was a founding member of Carroll & Wall and a partner in the Trust and Estates Practice Group at Winston & Strawn. A noted author and lecturer, Tim has also served on the faculty of the Masters of Taxation and LL.M. Program of DePaul University College of Law. Immediately after graduating from law school, he served as judicial clerk to Justice James C. Draven of the Illinois appellate Court.
An active member of the community Tim has served on his local school board, park district board of trustees, plan commission, and on the boards of various charitable organizations.
Tim plays tennis and makes annual treks out west to ski the Rocky Mountain powder. After a lifetime of coaching his children in junior high and club basketball, he now enjoys spectating his grandchildren’s sports.
